Mathematics is the science that deals with the logic of shape, quantity and arrangement. Maths is all around us, in everything we do. It is the building block for everything in our daily lives, including mobile devices, architecture (ancient and modern), art, money, engineering, and even sports. (livescience.com)

A number is a mathematical object used to count, measure, and also label. The original examples are the natural numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and so forth. A notational symbol that represents a number is called a numeral.

Geometry is a branch of mathematics concerned with questions of shape, size, relative position of figures, and the properties of space.

Measurement is the assignment of a number to a characteristic of an object or event, which can be compared with other objects or events. The scope and application of measurement are dependent on the context and discipline.

Probability is the study of chance and is a fundamental subject that we apply in everyday living, statistics is more concerned with how we handle data using different analysis techniques and collection methods. These two subjects always go hand in hand and thus you can't study one without studying the other.

Problem solving is the act of defining a problem; determining the cause of the problem; identifying, prioritizing, and selecting alternatives for a solution; and implementing a solution.
Steps:   1. Define the problem
              2. Generate alternative solutions
              3. Evaluate and select an alternative
              4. Implement and follow up on the solution
